Honestly, once you become a lich, the game is practically over, unless the idea of walking around a cave all the time sounds fun. Unless you plan on roleplaying a really old person, who was researching something, and the idea of dying of natural causes just isn't in your playbook. So you don't die a natural death anymore, so.yeah?Īs for RP, once you are a lich, you have taken the fact you are now irreversibly undead, a being no one will like (so no more visiting towns), and are reduced to, essentially, dungeon fodder. Consider it a role playing thing and not a power gaming thing if you want. To me I think becoming ageless/immortal is bad ass enough on its own. Do you need +20 to every stat to make something awesome, or is just the fact that you won't age anymore bad ass enough. Vamps, they just got bit, that isn't an accomplishment. Immortality is bad ass, immortality you achieve because you are a bad ass is even more bad ass.
Odd you answered your own question and yet you still don't seem to know the answer. The only reason why liches seem very powerful, is because mages that do successfully complete the process are very powerful already and as a lich, you have a longer time to practice up on your magical abilities. Seriously guys, the only reason why lichification is performed is because dying a natural death is extremely inconvenient to researchers, or is done to protect things (see Tribunal and Bloodmoon). Also, they'll be hated by everyone, you won't be able to do, unless you prefer to become a creep yourself. Why does everyone want to be a lich? They're don't suddenly become more powerful, they're essentially just immortal (which is why the ritual is performed).
